2000 Meters to Andriivka is a 2025 Ukrainian documentary film, directed and produced by Mstyslav Chernov. It follows Chernov and Alex Babenko as they follow a Ukrainian platoon on a mission to liberate the Russian-occupied village of Andriivka.[2]

It had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2025.

Production

Frontline and The Associated Press co-produced the film, with PBS Distribution distributing the film.[4]

Release

It had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2025.[5] Dogwoof will handle international sales.[6] On March 30, 2025, at the CPH:DOX 2025, the film won the F:ACT AWARD category for best documentary in the investigative journalism genre. "Ultimately we give the F:ACT award to '2000 Meters to Andriivka' not just because it’s a conflict on our doorstep, but because it’s a masterpiece in filmmaking: a haunting, multi layered portrayal of war comparable to All Quiet on the Western Front", the festival jury concluded.[7]

Reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 94% of 18 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 8.3/10. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 85 out of 100, based on 8 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".
