APG Elumalai (born July 07, 1977) is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his work in Tamil cinema. He made his directorial debut with the 2019 mystery-thriller Aghavan. His work blends traditional themes with social narratives.
Early Life and Education
Elumalai was born in Andappettai village, Kariyamangalam post, Chengam taluk, Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of Gopalakrishnan and Pounamal. He studied at Chengam Higher Secondary Boys School and holds a Diploma in Film Direction (D.F.Tech).
Career
Worked as an assistant director - poi movie,Directed by k.balachander.Worked as a co director- Kannum kannum,Directed by g.marimuthu.Former assistant of film director Prabhu Solomon in movies laadam,Myna,Kumki. His debut film, Aghavan (2019), is a temple-based mystery-thriller starring Kishore Ravichandran, Nithya Shetty, and Chirashree Anchan. The film gained attention for its spiritual and suspenseful narrative.
His second film, Myyal (2025), is a rural romantic thriller written by B. Jeyamohan, addressing crime, black magic, and social issues is yet to release. It stars Sethu and Samridhi Thara,Plthenappan.Music is composed by Amargeeth and the film is produced by Icon cine creations.
