Johannes Hubrich is a German film editor, known for his work on international television and film productions including The Lazarus Project, Bodies, and Beat. He has received recognition for editing complex multi-timeline and genre-spanning series.

Career

In 2018, Hubrich worked as supervising editor on the Amazon Prime series Beat, directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner. The series won the 2019 Grimme-Preis in the Fiction category.[1]

In 2019, he edited the feature film The Collini Case (Der Fall Collini), produced by Constantin Film and directed by Kreuzpaintner, based on the novel by Ferdinand von Schirach.[2]

Hubrich was one of the editors of the 2023 Netflix miniseries Bodies, a multi-timeline thriller based on the graphic novel by Si Spencer. Critics praised the editing for its seamless handling of four different time periods.[3][4]

He also worked as editor on Sky’s science fiction series The Lazarus Project, created by Joe Barton. For his work on the show, Hubrich was nominated for the 2023 BAFTA Cymru Awards in the category Best Editing (Fiction). The series also won Best Drama and was nominated for Best Writer.[5]

In 2024, Hubrich edited five episodes of Those About to Die, a historical action series directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner and Roland Emmerich for Peacock.

In the same year, he worked on Hameln, a youth-oriented supernatural mystery series based on the legend of the Pied Piper, directed by Rainer Matsutani and broadcast on ZDFneo.

In 2025, he edited the episode "Find Them Dead" in season five of ITV’s crime series Grace, directed by Imogen Murphy.

Hubrich is known for editing narrative structures involving time jumps, parallel storylines, and high-concept plot mechanics. His style combines visual rhythm with emotionally driven pacing.
