Pretend I’m Not Here is an upcoming British comedy drama film directed by Simon Bird and set in the Netherlands during the Second World War. It is from a screenplay by Lisa Owens based on Hans Keilson novella Comedy in a Minor Key. It is starring Matthew Broderick, Sally Hawkins and Martin Freeman.
Premise
Set during the Netherlands during the Nazi occupation in the Second World War, a married couple offer shelter to a Jewish man hiding from the authorities.[1]

Production
The film marks Simon Bird's second feature length film following his 2019 feature debut Days of the Bagnold Summer. The film is a Parkville Pictures and Lemming Film co-production developed with BBC Film. Cecilia Frugiuele and Olivier Kaempfer are producers for Parkville. Lisa Owens, who worked with Bird on Days of the Bagnold Summer, wrote the screenplay based on Hans Keilson novella Comedy in a Minor Key. Principal photography is scheduled to commence in 2025 in the U.K. and the Netherlands.[2]
The cast is led by Matthew Broderick, Sally Hawkins and Martin Freeman.[3]
