Devi weighs 7,825 pounds (3,550 kilograms) Raised in the Children’s Zoo, now resides in the main elephant exhibit. In this animated gif, she is exhibiting "rocking behaviour", a stereotypical rhythmic swaying behaviour (like weaving), often mistaken for "dancing". This behaviour is not reported in free ranging wild elephants. Such repetitive behaviour, not uncommon in captive elephants, may be symptomatic of psychological disorders. It is sometimes noted as a precursor to the onset of aggressive behaviours.
