FCC deadlines for launch

Can we confirm that there is an FCC deadline of sometime in 2026 for half the constellation to be in orbit and operating ? - Rod57 (talk) 11:51, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[1] says half by July 2026, with the rest by July 2029. - Rod57 (talk) 11:59, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Launches

No Falcon 9 launch planned for 2025? 2001:9E8:CAD8:900:9CE5:3AD9:228C:963E (talk) 09:27, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 29 April 2025

Kuiper SystemsProject Kuiper – Seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME. PhotographyEdits (talk) 11:28, 29 April 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Bensci54 (talk) 16:35, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Project Kuiper is the concept that has become a fledgling satellite constellation, Kuiper Systems is the company that is implementing the project. For comparison, we have an article about the competing Starlink constellation, but we don't have a separate article about Starlink Services, LLC. There may well be more reliable sources that talk about Project Kuiper than Kuiper Systems, but that doesn't make one the WP:COMMONNAME of the other. I have no particular preference, but as things stand the article is written with the company (and its parent company, Amazon) as its subject, and it would need to be reworked to focus on the project if this move is made. As an outsider I expected Project Kuiper was the most commonly used. @Rosbif73 asserts the two names under consideration refer to related but distinct things. That's worth considering, but the company's job postings:
https://www.amazon.jobs/content/en/teams/devices-services/project-kuiper
Refers to "Project Kuiper" and doesn't mention "Kuiper Systems". The company itself seems to be leaning into the "Project Kuiper" branding. I'm not saying this alone should be determinative, but it is suggestive. If the company is using "Project Kuiper" in this way, and more generally, isn't it reasonable to expect a Wikipedia user would search for and expect to find a "Project Kuiper" page? Granted FCC license

"Amazon is required to launch and operate half of its satellites no later than July 30, 2026" - How many launches have to take place until July 30, 2026? Is it possible to achieve this? 2001:9E8:CAFB:4600:B92D:C216:CB09:5ADA (talk) 06:24, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

it's impossible for them to achieve this - they would need to launch ~39 more times in just under 1.25 years
they will just get an extension from the FCC, this is pretty common Samsung0804 (talk) 20:33, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
