Talk:Raw data

Citations

Citations are needed to improve the objectiveness and accuracy of this post. The discussion of the two types of raw data (captured and exhaust data) would help add depth and clarity to the definition of raw data. The discussion on the final processing of data whether it be transient or derived would help add depth to the understanding of data processing. Soitgoes (talk) 14:06, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

.raw data format

Can someone elaborate on the .raw data format and disambiguate it from the .raw image format as well as suggest how .raw data files can be opened (I assumed text editors should be able to open them but perhaps one needs to change the suffix to .txt if that would not affect headers, etc). This also needs to be disambiguated more generally, e.g. Windows 10 somehow thinks .raw data files can be opened with the Photos App. A disambiguation in Wikipedia would help put confused people in the right direction. Example image

The two columns to the right of the left-most column in this computerized table are raw data.

Can someone translate what this table is illustrating, and say whether the caption is correct?

It looks to me as if the two left-most columns are raw data, with the third and fourth being copies of them sorted by HDL, but I may be misunderstanding what I'm looking at. --Belbury (talk) 11:53, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
