Feedback from New Page Review process
I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: the statement "In 1989, he became the head of the "Materials Lab" at the Institute of Solid State Physics at the Technical University of Berlin" when this is one year after he finished his PhD looks wrong. Probably it should be some other word rather than "head".

- In 1988 the Materials Lab at the Institute of Solid State Physics was enlarged and divided into divisions for growing II-VI and III-V semiconductors. Udo Pohl had worked for 5 years after his Diploma in the field of the II-VIs and qualified by his PhD for the vacant position to supervise the II-VI division. - Please revised the phrase since what is written implies a much wider scope. Ldm1954 (talk) 15:24, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Well, there seems no literal equivalent for this position in the UK or US. Maybe "department head" is appropriate. UWP-Wiki (talk) 15:48, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think group leader would be appropriate assuming that he managed a few PhD students, postdocs and maybe 1-3 PhD kevel staff. A Department Head would have 5-10 times that number of people reporting to them Ldm1954 (talk) 16:15, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- As to the supervision of PhDs this may match. Still the main task implied the scientific and technical development of the Lab (a common unit of several research groups in the institute); - determining topical research fields, planning and installation of new equipment, supervision of some lab assistants. Is this approximately expressed by group leader? UWP-Wiki (talk) 16:49, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, they have positions such as those at the US national labs. Ldm1954 (talk) 16:51, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Fine, then we should use this term. Thank you. UWP-Wiki (talk) 17:10, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
