Question from Splityeaglesa (07:40, 20 April 2025)

How can I create a article about myself as an independent artist? --Splityeaglesa (talk) 07:40, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Splityeaglesa Generally, you don't. Wikipedia doesn't write about everything. We only write about folks are considered notable, i.e. they have been the subject of multiple independent reliable sources. Writing about yourself is discouraged and requires a WP:COI disclosure. If you are notable, someday, someone will write an article about you organically. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!22:11, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You are my assigned mentor. I'd like to reach out to say hello. I don't have any questions right now. --KnoxPR (talk) 16:55, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@KnoxPR Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. What are you looking to edit about? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!16:56, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @CaptainEek, we have a few clients who are public figures and are preparing their profiles to qualify for wikipedia pages.
Once they do, we'll come back here and request your assistance. I just wanted to introduce myself, say hello, and thank you in advance for your help. KnoxPR (talk) 17:16, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@KnoxPR If you're looking to make profiles for clients, beware that we have rather strict rules and a lot to learn. You'll need to start by reading WP:PAID, which requires disclosure of all paid editing. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!17:21, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for sharing this information in advance so we can be properly prepared. For some clients, we will be paid, and for some clients, we have volunteered our services and are not paid.
However, we are happy to disclose this information, and will abide by the rules. Thank you for sharing this document. We will make sure we review everything necessary in advance so we remain above board. KnoxPR (talk) 17:32, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi, how do I submit my draft. I think I published the article by mistake. --Agencytwentyone (talk) 19:25, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Agencytwentyone Well currently you have a draft at Draft:Tempestt Harris. You can click the "submit the draft for review" button to put it in the review queue. Though I'll say that right now your page is written like an advertisement, not a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia is not for promotion. Also, we don't write about everyone, only folks who are considered notable, i.e. have been the subject of multiple independent reliable sources, which I am currently not seeing evidence of. @Agencytwentyone Then what you'll need to do is to make sure those reliable sources which prove her notability are included in the article. Also, please note that you appear to be doing this on Ms. Harris's behalf, which means that you probably need to disclose that you are a WP:PAID editor. We allow paid editors, but we do require disclosure. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!02:58, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Dietrich2001 (03:18, 30 April 2025)

Hello! I've just submitted an updated page from my sandbox. The page is about me - so I have a conflict. The old page was riddled with errors so I fixed it. I woukd like to ask if you could help me make sure it meets all the criteria so I can list it? Tha ks Dietrich Stephan --Dietrich2001 (talk) 03:18, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Dietrich2001 I don't know that I really have the time to help you, but I believe that @Drmies had been helping you, perhaps he can give you the advice you're looking for? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!03:24, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
how does it work if I publish the page in the sandbox and ask for editorial review? Is somebody assigned through the web site? I'm just so unclear as to what to change to make it be compliant - I pit hours into trying to make it conform and reference everything correctly and I'm not getting specific feedback... any advice for me? Dietrich2001 (talk) 03:30, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dietrich2001 Again, Drmies is probably in a better place to help you. But for what its worth, your sandbox version reads like an advertiser wrote it. This isn't a promotional website, this is a neutral encyclopedia. Everything that goes on your page needs to be stated neutrally, in an almost detached manner. No buzzwords. Every claim needs to be sourced to a reliable source. Basically, if it hasn't been written about in a newspaper, then we probably aren't going to talk about it. I have some objections to unblocking CW anytime soon

I see the user has made an unblock request and TNT has extracted a reasonable acceptance of G7s from the user for two problematic userspace essays. However, I do not think en.wiki is safe with CW continuing to operate as if this was discord. I would prefer the standard offer should apply. BusterD (talk) 14:10, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just to note that I'll be refraining from processing that unblock request any further than I have already — just wanted to get rid of those pages with the minimum of fuss, for their sake really — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 15:01, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I thought allowing the G7s was an excellent and productive concession. I'm not nervous about any precipitous action, instead more about the user's health. It appears that between the three of us, we have a similar set of priorities. BusterD (talk) 15:06, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@BusterD@TheresNoTime I think this is a person who could honestly use a year (or a few) without Wikipedia, but who might be welcomed back with open arms when they have achieved greater maturity. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!16:51, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
When a wikipedian's personal problems become Wikipedia's problem, it's usually an appropriate time to step back from the keyboard, willingly or otherwise. I've been there myself. No blame. BusterD (talk) 17:16, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I've been registered for five days, but don't seem to be autoconfirmed. Any advice? --Slowsho (talk) 06:28, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Slowsho it looks like you just need to wait a few more hours, as I believe it's counted as 96 hours from the time of creation. If you still don't have it tomorrow, let me know and I can investigate. Although if you're using a Tor browser (also known as an onion browser) the auto confirmed threshold is much higher, but most folks don't use that. Question from Tori McGee Holistic Realtor (01:25, 9 May 2025)

HI. Im trying to upload my article --Tori McGee Holistic Realtor (talk) 01:25, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Tori McGee Holistic Realtor If you're trying to write about yourself, that's probably a bad idea. We don't write about everyone, only folks who are notable, i.e. the subject of multiple, independent, reliable sources. Have you been the subject of more than just token news coverage? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!01:28, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes
Tori McGee is a holistic real estate professional and certified Building Biology Advocate based in Metro Atlanta, Georgia. She specializes in wellness-focused real estate and works with both existing homes and new construction projects. McGee is also the founder of Non-Toxic Georgia, an initiative aimed at reducing toxic exposures in residential environments and promoting healthy homes across the state.
== Early life and background ==
McGee began her professional journey in wellness and nutrition. Her focus on environmental health and indoor air quality was shaped by personal experiences, including addressing her daughter's chronic health issues. These experiences inspired her to explore the impact of indoor environments on well-being and ultimately led her into holistic real estate.
== Career ==
In 2015, McGee became a licensed Realtor in the state of Georgia. She focuses on properties that align with wellness and sustainability principles, including improved air and water quality, EMF mitigation, and the use of non-toxic building materials.
She holds certification as a Building Biology Advocate, a designation that trains professionals to identify and reduce environmental hazards in living spaces. McGee applies these principles in helping clients buy, sell, or renovate homes with a focus on health and wellness.
=== Building Biology and new construction ===
In addition to working with existing homes, McGee advises on new construction projects using Building Biology guidelines. She collaborates with architects and builders to incorporate non-toxic materials, enhance ventilation systems, reduce EMF exposure, and select environmentally safe building sites. Her goal is to create high-performance homes that support long-term health and sustainability.
== Non-Toxic Georgia ==
McGee is the founder of Non-Toxic Georgia, a platform dedicated to increasing public awareness of toxic exposures in homes and providing resources for healthier living. The initiative offers access to certified non-toxic service providers, educational content, and community support focused on chemical-free living environments in Georgia.
== Media and public engagement ==
McGee has been featured in publications such as Voyage ATL, Shoutout Atlanta, and Atlanta Agent Magazine for her work in holistic real estate. She is also a contributor to WellnessRE Magazine, where she writes about healthy homes, sustainable design, and non-toxic living practices.
She frequently appears as a guest on podcasts focused on wellness real estate and healthy home design, where she discusses Building Biology, EMF reduction, non-toxic home products, and holistic approaches to property buying and construction.
== Personal life ==
McGee resides in the Metro Atlanta area. In her free time, she enjoys plant-based dining, traveling to wellness destinations such as 30A in Florida and Serenbe in Georgia, and spending time with her family.

@Tori McGee Holistic Realtor Wikipedia is not for self promotion. It is very rare for a real estate agent to be notable enough to qualify for a page. Of the 1.5 million or so realtors in the country, less than 300 have Wikipedia pages. Many of them are on that list because they were murdered or committed some terrible crime, which is not exactly a great reason to have a page. A few local stories is not enough to prove that you should have a page in an encyclopedia that covers the entire world. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!01:54, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Got it. Thank you. Tori McGee Holistic Realtor (talk) 12:54, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
