Reverting and Warning vandals
Many thanks for your report at WP:ANI, just thought you might like to know how to remove vandalism and warn users! At the top of the page, near the edit button, click history. Then, you get a list of dates and times of different revisions, newest at the top. Click on the revision (date and time) that doesn't have the vandalism on, then click edit, this will then restore the older version. To save it, add an edit summary like, reverting vandalism, then click save as you would normally do. You can do it easier by installing tools such as Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation_popups, they do things semi-automatically for you. Another thing you can do whilst on the history, is compare two versions of a page, see the dots on the left hand side of the date/time? Well click on the 2 dots next to the revisions you wish to compare and then click compare selected versions. now to warning users. You need to use a template to warn users, replacing the template with 1 - 4 depending on how other warnings theyve had. The templates are as follows. {{uw-test1}}, {{uw-test2}}, {{uw-test3}}, {{uw-test4}}. You should sing every warning by typing ~~~~ . Hope that all helps! Ryan Postlethwaite 18:29, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you! Honestly, I really needed a small push and all (since I was going around... clicking links like a headless chicken), so your help is very much appreciated.
I hope to see you around, and thanks again for your help! I shall see to review everything, but for now I need some sleep-- ahah. Chaostame 19:02, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- No problem! (Don't forget, sign your name with 4 tidles whenever you comment (~~~~) - it then adds your signature and date to every comment) Ryan Postlethwaite 18:58, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
