Mathematics and art: the Fraser spiral illusion (made of concentric circles) says something about visual perception, and is a forerunner of Op art.

Star for you

The GA barnstar
For a thorough and quality review of Flower, which included making diagrams yourself! Thanks for always being an exemplary editor.

That's very kind of you, thank you. Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:33, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've been happily pottering, expanding a stub into a real article, and am now sending out appeals for suggestions for further expansion. I've just thought of lemon zesters and melon ballers, which I'll add, but if, as one foodie to another, you have any suggestions they will be most warmly welcomed. Hi Tim, I've been travelling. Will try to get to this when my head clears! Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Martina Juričková

[1]. No, she didn't say it. There is no word "avoid" or "avoiding" in her text. Could you explain yourself? Corwin of Amber (talk) 15:40, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Gosh, there's really no need for that sort of abruptness, nor for insisting that we use an author's exact words, especially given that we are explicitly required to paraphrase. The article says quite clearly that in her view Tolkien preferred to say "company", not "fellowship" and the article describes her reasons for that opinion. If you have a better word than "avoid" for the mention of "fellow", no problem, but that's the drift of the article, indeed it's close to its central point really. I've added the qualification "for the Nine Walkers", as MJ observes correctly that Tolkien uses the looser term "fellow" in other contexts "for good and bad creatures alike". Hope that meets your concerns. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
