If I declined your draft at AfC, and you came to ask me to re-review it, please don't (unless I expressly said you could) – I feel it's fairer to the other drafts that yours goes back to the pool... and probably also fairer to your draft that someone else reviews it next. (And if you just came to tell me you've made changes, that's great, but no need to inform me.)
If you still want to leave me a message about a draft or article, I'd appreciate if you could please link to the page in question, so I don't have to go hunting for it. Ta.

- @AlphaBetaGamma: ah, okay, thanks. Wikitia mirrors / copies from Wikipedia: on the bottom of their article (can't link to it, coz taboo or something!) it says the content is taken from our subsequently-deleted article Razaq Obe. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:34, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
User talk:Stephen Esquith
Hi there! On User talk:Stephen Esquith, it appears that you marked the post as "helped", even though you didn't provide him with a response. If I wasn't already looking at the page, I would have presumed that a page marked as "helped" already had a response. I provided a response - feel free to add on to it if you like. In the future, please don't mark a page as "helped" without a response. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 16:17, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: I did provide a response, and was almost done with it when I saw you also replied.
- Rightly or wrongly, I tend to first mark these as replied, before providing the actual reply, to minimise the chances of several helpers going there which just duplicates efforts. If that's not the right way to do it, I'm more than happy to be corrected. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:32, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

hello how do iget my new page to publish? --Jasmine Artiga (talk) 01:16, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Jasmine Artiga: sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean, but if you're wanting to create an article draft, you can go to WP:YFA where you will find pretty much everything you need to get started. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:27, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

I'm not certain that this edit is quite what you had intended? I'm not even sure how that would have happened - anyway, I thought you'd want to know. stwalkerster (sock | talk) 09:17, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for reminding me, @Stwalkersock; I meant to go back and undo that edit, but it slipped my mind.
- I was declining the unblock request (such as it was), but when I hit 'decline' the whole request template just vanished (the request had been undone by then). I don't understand how it even managed to record my edit in the history... but then, there are so many things I don't understand. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:24, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- No problem, I'd assumed it was something you hadn't spotted to begin with! I saw it pop up when I was looking through the list of new unblock requests and randomly opened that one and got a bit confused as to what had happened. stwalkerster (talk) 18:24, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
The more I look at this the more I doubt that I was correct to accept it. Would you mind taking a critical look at it, please? 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 09:58, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Timtrent: no, I think that's fine. The RSC fellowship and the RCAA membership should be enough to establish notability, surely? Also, the university seems to rate these research chairs above your plain vanilla professors, which could (?) make them sort of equivalent to named chairs or 'distinguished' professors. Looks to me (FWIW) like you made the right call. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:25, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

Quick SPI clerk request
Hey DG, any chance you wouldn't mind doing a quick clerking task over at SPI in response to an error I made during filing? Thanks, Bobby Cohn (talk) 17:05, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Bobby Cohn: sorry, I'm only newly in training, and on a very short leash; I empty the bins, occasionally wipe the blackboard, that sort of thing. (Seriously though, I wouldn't know how, and don't want to make a pig's ear of it.) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:11, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, my apologies, I read the clerks list backwards (and here I was thinking you had two trainees). Best of luck learning the new role!

Question on resources / Draft:Calixto Ferrer
Hi!
Thank you for reviewing the page! Draft:Calixto Ferrer Pérez
I had a quick question for you regarding resources, apologies if it's nonsense. Do you have any suggestions if the resources I'm using are it. The record label has minimal records and a lot of the musicians were never interviewed, therefore, I was basing it off what I was able to find on the web (songs, performances, interview with the subject). I'm trying to see if any libraries have archives since it was a very popular era, but I'm not having any luck. Any suggestions? And thank you again! Maritavelar (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

Rajendra Khairnar (talk) 05:52, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Rajendra Khairnar: no, you're not able to see it on Google searches, because it's still a draft. And it will remain a draft until you properly support it with reliable sources that show the subject to be notable. Even if/when it's accepted as an article, it still won't be visible to search engines until the article has been reviewed by New Page Patrol. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:01, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

What is the reason you keep deleting our page? Ive edited the text to be similar to that of Barbara Cochran and other real estate moguls. Section 8 Karim (talk) 15:28, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Section 8 Karim: because it is pure promotion, very inadequately referenced, and provides no evidence of notability.

Monitoring automatic translation errors from Finnish
Hi, DoubleGrazing. Thanks for your reply to a Teahouse translation question from a user. I could use your help in documenting serious machine translation errors from Finnish, for a project aiming to strengthen our translation guideline.
It's good to know you are a native Finnish speaker; now I know who to come to if I have questions. I speak no Finnish, but your Teahouse comment about the pitfalls of machine translation with respect to Finnish sound very familiar to my experience with MT in other languages. Your comment that "Gobbledegook is easy for anyone to spot" is spot-on; in fact, the danger lies in beautiful prose output by MT that is unfaithful to the original. As MT gets better at producing beautiful prose, monolinguals' estimation of MT quality goes up without any awareness of, or ability to spot the errors. But you know all this.
All of us who do translation and monitor the state of MT are well aware of the pitfalls, but many monolinguals are not, and some even recommend the use of MT by monolinguals at the Teahouse as a fine thing to do, as you have seen in that thread. I am trying to collect concrete data about serious MT errors in order to eventually strengthen the wording in our guideline on machine translation, which is very wishy-washy at the moment, so that when we tell users not to do this, it will have much stronger backing than currently exists in the guideline. Please have a look at Help:Translation/Machine translation errors. If you could add a few examples of problems with Finnish MT as you come across them, that would help. I am hoping to accumulate two or three examples per language in a dozen languages, and then either make bold changes to the guideline, or propose a change. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 16:32, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Mathglot,
- Thanks for dropping by my talk page. :)
- This sounds interesting, and I'd be happy to help (or at least try). That said, I'm not a translator or any other sort of expert in this field, so will try not to wade in too deep into something I don't know enough about. But I'll take a look at the link you pointed to, and see how I can contribute.
- Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:51, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- No need to be a translator, just knowledgeable enough about individual cases you personally observe when MT Finnish to English output is so wrong that adding the English translation to a Wikipedia article would be inaccurate or unverifiable. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 16:54, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

Draft article on the VOGON News Service
Hello, I drafted an article in 2019 which was rejected. I saw you looked at it 3 months ago (perhaps this is when it was retrieved from archive?). I've updated the talk page to say about the exhibition at the Museum of Reading. The people involved in setting this up were enthusiastic about including the VNS but ran out of room for it. When it is included in the online exhibition, will that be enough to make it notable so that I can resubmit the article (adding the reference to the online exhibition)? thanks for your advice. Tom Tomp-uk (talk) 10:35, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Tomp-uk,
- Yes, back in January I undeleted Draft:Vogon News Service per your request. That's my only involvement with it, though; I'm not familiar with the draft or the sources. I can see that it was declined for lack of evidence of notability.
- A real-life exhibition is not a published source, unless some sort of recording or transcript is made of it, or an exhibition catalogue or similar volume is published alongside it. An online exhibition might have a better chance of qualifying as 'published', so in that sense it's fortunate that this will be part of the online version.
- Whether one additional source is enough to get this over the line of notability, I couldn't say without reviewing all the sources currently in the draft. For notability per WP:GNG to be established, we typically require three qualifying sources. If the draft currently has none, then adding one would not be enough. Whereas if it has already two solid sources, then adding a third one could be enough to clinch it. (That's assuming that the source otherwise meets the requirements for reliability, independence, etc.)
- Sorry if that's not a very clear answer, but it's difficult to say anything conclusively without seeing the source you're proposing to add (and without reviewing the 14 sources already there).
- Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:02, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- that's very helpful. Many thanks. Tom Tomp-uk (talk) 14:06, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
