RE: Draft:United States Prestige Proof Sets

Hi DoubleGrazing,

I’ve made the corrections based on your findings for the draft article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:United_States_Prestige_Proof_Sets

Is there anything else you’d suggest reviewing before it moves to approval?

Kind regards, Leonid Leonid.Zolotarev (talk) 16:17, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

You posted a TPA removal notice...

...but the TPA was never actually revoked, at least according to the block log of Boogerbrainz. This particular case is moot now since the account is inactive, but well, may be best to double-check in the future if Twinkle has messed up. Just FYI. JavaHurricane 18:46, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

Thanks @JavaHurricane, done now. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 19:49, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

I was looking through COI edit requests and was struck by the patience and clarity with which you explained our COI/RS policies at Talk:Jonathan_Kellerman#Question_for_administrator. I'm tempted to write some of your explanations down so I can crib from them the next time this comes up! Thank you for going above and beyond in not biting the newbies, even the COI ones :) Rusalkii (talk) 00:24, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Notability of Sudhir Mehta (entrepreneur)

DoubleGrazing, regarding notability: Draft:Sudhir Mehta (entrepreneur) meets WP:GNG and WP:BIO with 11 independent sources—e.g.,Economic Times Auto* (2025) on EKA’s EV showcase, Fortune India (2025) on profitability, *The Times of India (2022) on India’s first e-bus—plus awards like Lokmat 2024. Revised for neutrality and detail (e.g., EKA’s 2022 launch). If sourcing’s lacking, please detail—I suggest mainspace per WP:ATD.MH-wiki2025 (talk) 22:11, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

InSC fake award

That organization does not exist, and I was not attacking any of the real organization. They are looting money from the people and people need to know this kind of crime. That is what I was doing through this platform. Since so many years they are doing it. 103.133.158.172 (talk) 14:48, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

I told you already, creating entirely unreferenced attack pages is not what Wikipedia is for; ditto, WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS.
And when your account is blocked, you're not allowed to edit, even logged out, and that includes here on my talk page. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:32, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Request for review as adhering to guidelines now

Hope you can help. You rejected my draft page as it needed references that are in-depth, reliable, secondary and strictly independent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Payara_Services

I've gone through in detail and revised it significantly to meet WP:NCORP standards. Weak sources such as blogs, press releases, brief announcements, and company-authored materials have been removed. They are replaced by robust, reliable, independent, and in-depth third-party coverage from InfoQ, Technology Reseller, Intelligent CIO and The Business Magazine clearly demonstrating their notability according to Wikipedia guidelines. Hope this is sufficient.

I did ask if someone could review, and got the reply to go back to the person who rejected. As you were the last moderator, reaching out to you, so you can review again. The page doesn't give me the option to submit for review, thus reaching out. Hope you can help!

THank you Cyto2015 (talk) 13:56, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi @Cyto2015: before we get into all of that, can you tell me if you work (whether as employee, contractor, agent, director, or in any other capacity) for this business? Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:11, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Cyto, thanks for coming back. I don't. I am employed in science with an interest in open source and app developments. Application server is a topic that requires some correction on Wikipedia, some companies exist, some stand alone pages exist for products, some are grouped together, so I would like to rework and correct this. Payara's software is one of the open source ones I have used amongst others like IBM's and they are a good vendor to start. Ideally each vendor should have their own page (vendor's listed here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_application_servers) Cyto2015 (talk) 09:40, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
@Cyto2015: I see. It's just that your very first edit was uploading this company's logo, immediately followed by a fully-fledged draft on the same. And since then, pretty much your entire edit history has to do with this one company, including editing the draft and making numerous edits to include the subject in existing articles. If you don't mind my saying, it looks an awful lot like you have a specific interest in this company, and this company alone, rather than "open source and app developments" more generally. Can I just point out that if you do have a conflict of interest, that isn't a problem; you can still edit, you just need to disclose it. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:50, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for coming back Cyto. I don't. Payara just happened to be the first one I was trying to do. This is my first page and my thinking was..get the page ready so I understand what to look out for, how to go about it and use it as a template for new pages. The strict rejections were scary but a learning experience as well, and I actually gave up but then realised I shouldn't and rather than have the page deleted in 6 months, might as well give it another go..see if I can have it up and then follow that as the template for new pages. I do have an interested in building pages for other topics as well! Cyto2015 (talk) 10:28, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
@Cyto2015: alright then.
Turning to your draft, there is still nothing to suggest this business is notable per WP:NCORP. Taking each of your sources in turn:
 1. Only indirectly related, doesn't even mention Payara.
 2. Is about their products, not about the company itself.
 3. Probably the strongest of the weak lot, but is just routine business reporting, and almost certainly based on a press release ie. not independent.
 4. 'How-to' guide, and again about the products, not the company.
 5. Only points to the domain root, not to any specific coverage of this business, but judging by the title unlikely to meet the WP:GNG standard for notability anyway.
It might be best to drop this and find a different subject to write about? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:37, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Biased Information on profile of Mehul Choksi

Dear editor, on the profile of Mehul Choksi which is a biography of a person, several details that were updated have been deleted by AustinTalks. This includes citations from the Guardian and the Daily Mail. The current article only includes links from Indian Media which are biased an in most cases unsourced. Especially the details about the Kenneth Rijock Report which is false and salacious. An Interpol Red Corner notice on the man was cancelled due to human rights abuses by India. Allowing the article to be locked and the information to remain as it is is harmful to the life and freedom of Mr. Mehul Choksi. If you could kindly see the vast difference between the two points of view and opt for an unbiased view that shows both sides. Especially in terms of the info box. He is not convicted of any crimes. The trials have not begun and he has not been declared a fugitive yet. The language used is defamatory and incorrect. Elenamatthew (talk) 14:45, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

@Elenamatthew:
I have no interest in this matter, I was only pulled to the article talk page by the admin-help flag (unnecessarily, from what I could tell). Content disputes are settled by discussion, not edit warring, as the point was already made on that talk page.
What is your relationship with this person? You seem to be acquainted with his case, and keen to advocate. If you have an external relationship of some sort, you need to disclose this; please see WP:COI.
Note that Daily Mail is a deprecated source and mustn't be cited, so attempting to support your arguments with that source is futile.
Finally, I must caution you not to make allegations of libel and defamation. These are legal concepts, and bringing them up could conceivably be interpreted as legal threats, which is a blockable offence on Wikipedia. I don't think you have yet crossed that threshold, but it is easy to do so inadvertently.
Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:55, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
I am merely trying to bring to light a truthful and unbiased opinion on the biography of this person. I have been doing research into his case out of interest and noticed that the wiki page had not been updated with the latest factual information and was being used to portray a states narrative on the matter. Elenamatthew (talk) 14:57, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
I'm sure everyone involved in this is aiming for a truthful and unbiased article; it's just that people's views on what is truthful and unbiased often differ. Nobody has monopoly on The Only Right Truth. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:21, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
On BLPN she's said I represent Mehul Choksi, so, that's certainly one hell of a COI. In other news, that article is a mess. I've ECP'd it. -- asilvering (talk) 07:35, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for flagging that, @Asilvering. In that case it would seem that @Elenamatthew's next edit should be to disclose this COI formally, as per the query posted on their talk page. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:59, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Welcome to the team!

Hi DoubleGrazing, welcome to the SPI clerk team! As part of SPI clerk training, it would be a good idea to have an email available to allow easier behind the scenes advising and communication with potential trainers. That, or a Discord or IRC account; it's useful to have that for work in this field. You'll also want to create a notice in your userspace like User:0xDeadbeef/clerk that you can use for when you're reviewing cases. User:Blablubbs/SPI clerking cheat sheet has a lot of great advice on clerking too. Let us know if you have any questions; we're here to help. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 21:04, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

Do you folks mind if I follow DG's (public) progress over time? I'm interested in adding more SPI experience. Observing someone I know start learning the clerking process may permit me to better understand such processes overall. BusterD (talk) 21:34, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
@BusterD Of course; you don't even need to ask : ) Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 02:13, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
I'd wish to be a polite stalker. I'm not sure I'm organized enough to work in this field, but I'm certainly seeing enough in my daily work to be concerned about my full grasp of the process. BusterD (talk) 02:19, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Welcome to the clerk team :) I agree that having some form of communication channel will be quite helpful so you can ask questions whenever (I suppose some of them can be asked on-wiki, but there are also BEANsy stuff related to SPI stuff). I personally prefer something like Discord but that will depend on how frequently you check that stuff.
Also, as I mainly self learned my way through the SPI norms and procedures as a patrolling admin and then as a trainee clerk, I had a possibly different trainee experience. If you want some more formal training let us know. I can also go hunt for some cases that I'd think would be nice to process as a newly appointed clerk and assign them to you. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 04:47, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Hey, thanks! :) Excited to be learning new stuff, can't wait to get started!
E-mail enabled. I'll look into Discord later if this proves insufficient, I'm just slightly concerned I wouldn't remember to check it regularly.
Will take a look at Blablubbs' cheat sheet. Any other such materials, or tools, I should be aware of?
Thanks for the offer, @0xDeadbeef; if you can find a case or two in the shallow paddle end of the pool for me to get started on, that'd be great. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:12, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
As a start, if you don't have something that marks a user if it is blocked, enable "Strike out usernames that have been blocked" in your gadgets. I'd then recommend installing the following scripts:
importScript('User:GeneralNotability/spihelper.js'); // Backlink: User:GeneralNotability/spihelper.js
importScript('User:GeneralNotability/mark-locked.js'); // Backlink: User:GeneralNotability/mark-locked.js
importScript('User:RoySmith/tag-check.js'); // Backlink: User:RoySmith/tag-check.js
importScript('User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/cuStaleness.js'); // Backlink: User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/cuStaleness.js
 • spihelper is an absolute must have, looks like you already have it so let me know if you need help understanding how things work
 • mark-locked gives a red underline to users that are locked globally. May be helpful for crosswiki SPI cases.
 • tag-check provides a box in front of usernames that indicates how a user is tagged. To me it helps understanding the relationship of a list of users better
 • cuStaleness shows whether some accounts could be stale based on their last edits (its not definitive as there could still be CU data), it also has little bits such as marking which account in a page is the oldest in terms of creation date and marking accounts that have been created by other users and not through normal registration which I also really like.
I will hunt for some cases then, before that, please have something like User:0xDeadbeef/clerk that I can subst to assign you :) 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 09:09, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
I've found a couple of cases that should be good for you to pick up. Check out Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Clerk and checkuser procedures#Process overview for clerks also. Note that you can probably name yours as User:DoubleGrazing/ClerkAtWork to that you can use every time you want to claim a case. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 09:20, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Oh forgot to mention, please feel free to ask questions if you are unsure of what to proceed or just have a question. If you use IRC, you can also consider joining #wikipedia-en-spi-clerks. I don't know who manages that IRC channel but I can ask around if you use IRC. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 09:23, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. Created User:DoubleGrazing/clerk – should I move it to /ClerkAtWork instead?
Also, installed those scripts. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:24, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
You don't need to if you plan on just writing each time. I didn't know that caw existed when I was a trainee. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 09:25, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Okay, I copied it across, so both subpages now exist. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:50, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Something in addition to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/كريشنا الداعي#c-0xDeadbeef-20250330123000-0xDeadbeef-20250330091400: you can use the spihelper to tag and block socks instead of manually adding them, that is usually faster than manually filling them out (at least for >2 users) 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 12:32, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
User:Blablubbs/8ball <- this is a good resource when it comes to interpreting CU results. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 15:40, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Feel free to claim some cases on your own time. I'm here if you have questions, but feel free to work on cases through blocking/tagging/closing, endorsing/declining, etc. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 05:01, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
This is great news! DG, I think you will make a fantastic SPI clerk. S0091 (talk) 16:26, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

@Bhaskar sunsari (talk page stalker) I very much doubt anyone will react well to being called 'Bro'. This may be the way you speak to your friends, but this will make you no friends here. They may check the draft, or may not, may even have done so already, but not because you made a poorly worded request, and only if they choose to.
Please think about your behaviour here. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 18:01, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

Bhaskar sunsari (talk) 18:54, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
@Bhaskar sunsari I am truly sorry about your self declared mental state. I think you may have been over ambitious to edit here while depressed, because it is not a gentle place. Please understand that your self declared mental issues will not cause Wikipedia to lower its article acceptance standards.
I recommend that you do not call yourself a duffer, nor use any insult for yourself. No-one has the right to insult you. That also means you do not have the right to insult yourself.
I see that you have tried hard. I also see a certain unfamiliarity with English. That will not help. But perhaps you might enjoy editing your native language Wikipedia? Please try that. I think you have a lot offer in your native language. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 19:08, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

Am I being unduly critical?

I would value your comments on my thoughts I have expressed at this editor's unlock request. If you feel I am in error please comment there if you feel the need. Otherwise please let us keep any discussion away fro the request itself, perhaps my or your talk page?

Obviously you will have your own views on their request, and they may differ from mine. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 09:11, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

@Timtrent: no, I don't think you're being unduly critical. I saw this appeal when it first appeared, and was undecided, so didn't act on it. Having read all that, I'm also now probably 60:40 against. I can't put my finger on it, but something doesn't feel quite right. Although possibly my view is coloured by some of the frustration with their drafts at AfC (all the more reason why I shouldn't review this appeal!). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:57, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
I'm grateful. I think, if not reviewed already, a lot of serious thought is required. I'm not troubled but the welter of AFC submissions. Some were excellent, others not so much. Were I an admin this is not one I would review either. I like the editor in a bizarre way! 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 17:21, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Sighs sadly. They are not minded to answer direct questions I see. All we get are woolly blandishments (can a blandishment be woolly?) about how they miss editing here, and how they didn't take the enWiki block e=serious, but the frWiki block made them think.
I'm sticking at 60:40 for continuing the block.
What is not quite right is the disconnect I sense between their understanding and what is required of them, simply based on their choice or inability to answer open questions wisely. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 17:28, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello... Thanks alot for reviewing my article... The thing is, there are around 15 newspapers prints based on Myraa Khattar but the issue is all of the are physical newspaper copies.... Hi @Myraa Khattar: sources don't have to online, you can cite offline sources as long as they otherwise meet our reliability etc. requirements. You need to provide sufficient bibliographical detail to enable the sources to be reliably identified for verification purposes; see WP:OFFLINE for advice.
Do please also note that autobiographies are very strongly discouraged, see WP:AUTOBIO. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:44, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
I checked the guidelines earlier... and like I do understand autobiography is not considered but I tried my best to keep the tone neutral... How to cite offline quotes?? Thanks for replying though... Myraa Khattar (talk) 16:16, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Priyanka Choudhary

You refer to the page having been created with four different titles. Submitting drafts or creating articles with different spelling of titles is a common form of gaming of titles, especially with names with native forms in scripts other than the Latin alphabet. Sometimes it is done by ultras, fanatical supporters of entertainers (especially Asian, because the names have native forms other than in the Latin alphabet).

I think we are saying the same thing. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:56, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

@Robert McClenon: indeed, and that's why this not-so-innocent user immediately set off alarm bells by moving it.
Thanks for filing that SPI. I was umming and ahhing about it, because the previous one didn't produce very clear results, but this time it certainly clarified things up. Glad you did it. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:54, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Translation of German Wiki entry: Oliver Sachs

Dear DoubleGrazing,

I actually wanted to add some information about some Central European impact and meteorite researchers to Wikipedia. I started with 'Sachs' because of his well-documented German Wikipedia page.

In addition, Sachs has published on hydrocarbons in Swiss deposits and hydrothermal energy research in Switzerland (partly for ETH Zurich, the Swiss Academy of Sciences, and others), as well as other, less important publications on meteorites and the two impact craters, Nördlinger Ries and Steinheim Basin. However, this is beyond the scope of this article and will not be listed further here.

D) My main question now is when it makes sense to edit/incorporate a Central European impact researcher or meteorite researcher into the English Wikipedia. There are not so many researchers in this rather exotic but exciting field of research. In my opinion, Sachs's German wiki is quite up-to-date and well-researched, hence the idea of a simple translation into English. Actually, I thought that other scientists like Christian Koeberl (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Koeberl), Karl Deffner (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Deffner), Wilhelm von Gümbel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_von_G%C3%BCmbel), Oscar Fraas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Fraas), Wilhelm von Branca (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_von_Branca), Ernst Koken (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Koken), Eberhard Fraas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eberhard_Fraas), Wolf von Engelhardt (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_von_Engelhardt) which should be gradually supplemented.

In addition, some meteorite and impact researchers from Central Europe are already listed in German Wikipedia, such as Wulf-Dietrich Kavasch (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wulf-Dietrich_Kavasch), Ludwig von Ammon (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_von_Ammon), Georg Wagner / Geologe (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georg_Wagner_(Geologe)), François Kraut (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fran%C3%A7ois_Kraut), Helmut Vidal (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmut_Vidal), Hermann Schmidt-Kaler (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Schmidt-Kaler), Josef Theodor Groiss (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Theodor_Groiss), Falko Langenhorst (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falko_Langenhorst), Addi Bischoff (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addi_Bischoff), Harald Hiesinger (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harald_Hiesinger) where an update or addition and, above all, a translation into the international scientific language English would make sense.

With 'Sachs' I thought that some preparatory work had already been done in the German Wikipedia by various authors. This should make it possible to translate “only” into English. However, this does not seem to be the case. Some of the other personalities mentioned require a bit more research and work. However, it is not yet entirely clear to me when someone is relevant for the more international, English Wikipedia. 'Sachs' has authored several books and is involved in frequently cited international publications. With regard to impact research (Nördlinger Ries) or meteorite research (e.g. Ribbeck (Meteorite)/ 2024 BX1, Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_BX1) he is involved in key publications. Nevertheless, 'Sachs' does not seem to be relevant for an entry/translation? Then it makes no sense to contact other scientists who are already listed in Wikipedia, or? Let alone scientists who have not yet been mentioned in Wikipedia (e.g. Gernot Arp / University of Göttingen, Kai Wünnemann / Free University of Berlin, Thomas Kenkmann / University of Freiburg and some more).

Which “hard” facts besides book publications and mentions in national and international databases/lists are really relevant? Neither 'Sachs' nor the other scientists mentioned are Nobel laureates, politicians or well-known artists. Especially in an exotic research field such as impact research or meteorite research. I can hardly find anything more about 'Sachs' than what has been presented here. If this is not enough, the English translation entry can also be deleted.

Best regards

@Meteoriten-Deutschlands: a scientist doesn't have to be a Nobel laureate to qualify for a Wikipedia article, but they do have to be in a senior academic position and/or have otherwise significant career achievements to their name. The special notability guideline for academics is laid out at WP:NPROF, with specific criteria enumerated at WP:NACADEMIC. Please study those, and see if any apply to Sachs.
The other alternative route to notability is via the general WP:GNG guideline. However, this requires significant coverage in multiple secondary sources that are reliable and entirely independent of the subject. This guideline is often difficult for academics to meet, hence why the NPROF one was devised. The draft currently cites no such sources, which suggests this may be difficult or impossible for Sachs to satisfy, also, but I am mentioning it in case you can find such sources.

Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Qargo Coffee

Hello DoubleGrazing. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Qargo Coffee, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not overtly promotional to G11 level. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:14, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from ShouldveUsedDucktape (14:33, 23 April 2025)

how do i translate an existing article so it is available in another language? --ShouldveUsedDucktape (talk) 14:33, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi @ShouldveUsedDucktape: see WP:Translation and/or WP:HOWTRANS for advice.
If you plan to translate from another language to English, then you need to be aware that our notability, referencing, etc. requirements here on the English Wikipedia are stricter than on most other language versions, so something that exists in a different language version of Wikipedia may not necessarily be accepted here.
