Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
Whether to PROD on non-free files
Hello. Thanks for your hard work as admin. As I see, you've used {{subst:PROD}} on orphaned free files. Why not use it on non-free files? To me, that would've saved a lot of FFD nominations that would've run unopposed, wouldn't it have? George Ho (talk) 19:44, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- My general rule of thumb is that I only PROD files if they're unused. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 00:12, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- Well, I apply PROD more broadly, but your decision then. To note, WP:PROD was extended to files at least eight years ago when FFD was loaded/crowded with many FFD nominations that have received little to no responses. George Ho (talk) 02:58, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Maxim's Bakery logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Maxim's Bakery logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:43, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
