- Keep A cursory search of PapersPast turns up two useful pieces of significant coverage: https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/CHP19781129.2.23?end_date=31-12-1989&items_per_page=10&query=3ZE&snippet=true&start_date=01-01-1977&type=ARTICLE%2CILLUSTRATION , https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/CHP19791203.2.14?end_date=31-12-1989&items_per_page=10&query=3ZE&snippet=true&sort_by=byDA&start_date=01-01-1977&type=ARTICLE%2CILLUSTRATION , and there are a few more in NewsBank. - This is not significant coverage. The newspapers you provided are just one sentence mentions of this station, they cant be used as sources. WhoIsCentreLeft (talk) 07:44, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- @WhoIsCentreLeft, they are articles that would be the foundational underpinning of some pretty important text. Probably would and should look like this:
Our coverage of NZ radio, quite plainly, sucks, and sometimes it feels like the newspaper availability isn't all there to salvage it. But there is just enough here to pass the GNG. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 17:02, 26 April 2025 (UTC)In October 1978, Radio New Zealand opened a temporary radio station, Radio Ashburton, in celebration of the town's centenary. Its broadcasting warrant was extended until the end of the year, allowing the station to broadcast on New Year's Eve. While RNZ also applied for permanent operating authority for the service, Radio Avon objected to the Broadcasting Tribunal's initial decision, and it took nearly a year for the Supreme Court to rule in RNZ's favor. Once that occurred and the studios had been completed, 3ZE began broadcasting on 2 December 1979. It consisted of four hours of locally-originating programmes, with the remainder of the broadcast day consisting of a relay of 3ZB in Christchurch.

- Keep As the nominator does not appear to know about PapersPast,BEFORE would not have been possible in a meaningful manner. Schwede66 10:27, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Delete I would not classify the paperspast sources as significant coverage — they are primary sources and notability requires secondary sources. Traumnovelle (talk) 21:16, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
