Animated GIFs are great the first few times, then they are super annoying. Many readers complain about them. I would like to try an experiment where I set the loop count to two in one image and link it to another version of the same image with the full loop. Then users will see the animation but it will stop before being annoying, with an option to click and enjoy.

- Hi, I was wondering if someone can kindly please vectorize the flag of "Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold"? I have included here two versions of the organization's logo to use as a base so the request can be done more quickly. Both version of the logo might need fixing though so please also do that if you vectorize the flag. One part that might be difficult is the Fraktur font for the words on the black and gold stripes. The words in yellow on the black stripe read "Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold" and the words in black on the yellow stripe read "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" (meaning "Unity and Justice and Freedom" which is the national motto of Germany and is taken from the German national anthem). An IP editor came to my page to point out that the current stylization of the UK Coat of Arms as used by HM Government appears to slightly differ in the organization of the motto from the drawing published by HM Government. - I think it's OK to not use the official color of the motto to avoid copyright issues, but the position of the motto should be similar to the official one. 112.105.122.226 (talk) 18:39, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

- Thank you for the ping, but as I've said several times already, copying minute details from UK Government files is an infringement of Crown Copyright. The file is fine as it is. Several editors have said no to this request already but you persist with a fresh IP address each time. For these reasons and as the file's creator, I am opposed to the changes requested. - Would changing the text arrangement in the scroll violate copyright, for example, moving 'ET MON' from the center to the sides like the official version instead of keeping it in the middle? 112.105.122.226 (talk) 15:11, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- My main concern is that in the 2022 version you created, the placement of the text within the scroll seems to follow past versions, which is noticeably different from the current version. Therefore, I'm hoping that at least the text position within the scroll can be adjusted. As for the other parts, they don't necessarily need to be changed. 112.105.122.226 (talk) 15:19, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- Specifically, place 'DIEU ET' on the left side of the scroll, leave the center blank, and place 'MON DROIT' on the right side. Only make this change; do not adjust other aspects like the direction the scroll curves or its color. Would making this change also infringe on copyright? 112.105.122.226 (talk) 15:26, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have no control over my IP address because it will change whenever I shut down and reconnect. 112.105.122.226 (talk) 15:38, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

- Hogweard (talk) 20:29, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- However, I checked and found that all the illustrations above are drawn in the same proportion (including the Queen's flag in the past), but from past situations, it seems that different proportions are used in actual use. The same is true for the Governor's flag shown on other pages. The two pictures I mentioned are indeed inconsistent with the proportions of other existing flags.
- That’s why I hope the ratio of these two pictures can be consistent with the ratio of other pictures. Most of the pictures I have seen in the past are 1:2. 112.105.122.226 (talk) 08:58, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- Is there any mileage in asking the Governor-General's office what are the actual proportions of the cloth flag which His Majesty actually uses? And for a good photograph / graphic? - That's what I thought you meant, and you are quite right. What we need to find out then is what are the proportions of the flags actually used. I understand that Her Late Majesty used a flag in the same proportions as the national flag, which is to say 2:1, but the illustration provided by the Canadian Heraldic Authority is 5:3. The old Guidance from the College of Arms was that sea flags should be 2:1 and land flags 5:3 but I have not seen that stuck to: the Union Jack and the Flag of Canada are always 2:1 on land and sea, and I think the Royal Standard that flies from Buckingham Palace is 2:1. The UK Flag Institute is dead-set on 5:3 and they have even tried to get the Union Jack changed.
- When His Majesty is in Canada next month, there will be flags. They might not all be identical in proportion. Someone will be organising them, so you might want to ask the Governor General's office what shape they are. Hogweard (talk) 10:33, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- I recently noticed the news that King Charles III is about to visit Canada. I think it is better to wait and see the actual use. At first, I only found that the proportions of these two flags have changed, which is inconsistent with the previous flags. Moreover, when this flag was announced in 2023, it was not pointed out that its proportions have been modified compared with the flag used by the Queen in the past. 112.105.122.226 (talk) 13:48, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- So after more photos of the actual use of this flag appear, we will discuss how to modify the existing svg file. 112.105.122.226 (talk) 13:51, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

This should be dropped: It is not a town flag. I enquired of Brandon Town Council and they replied "Thank you for your message. It made a very interesting read. However, our badge is the logo for Brandon Town Council and not Brandon." Hogweard (talk) 12:04, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Hogweard: Thanks for your input, and sorry for the inconvenience. But in that case, how would you feel about it instead being uploaded under the filename "Flag of Brandon Town Council, Suffolk", and displayed on any relevant articles as such? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 12:29, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- I am sticking with actual town and village flags. If it is specifically not a flag of the town, it would be misleading to display it as if it were. Maybe one day they will turn it into a town flag, and get it on the UK Flag Register, but at the moment it is not. If it is a logo of the Town Council's logo will be copyrighted in any case. Hogweard (talk) 10:03, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Hogweard: I wasn't proposing to display it as the town flag in my last reply. I'm not sure how you got that idea. I specifically mentioned displaying it as a town council flag in my last reply. I had no intention of "misleading" anyone. From what I can see, there is already relevant space on most of the above articles for flags that represent local councils, rather than the areas themselves. And a lot of those same council flags seem to be on WC without any CR issues. Thoughts? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 12:30, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- Hi! I was wondering is someone can kindly please vectorise these flags from the country of Georgia? These are the flags of the State Council of Heraldry of Georgia and the National Guard of Georgia. SVG versions of these flags already exist on Wikipedia though both organizations also use versions of the flags with the Georgian coat of arms displayed on them in a white silhouette. While the flag of the State Council of Heraldry displays the silhouette of the former coat of arms, the flag of the National Guard actually displays the former coat of arms for whatever reason. I have included the existing versions of the flags and both coat of arms to use as bases so the request can be done more quickly. Thanks in advance! -- 109.77.108.115 (talk) 20:17, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Do you have sources for the original designs? The State Council for Heraldry, for example - is the St George a white silhouette as on the PNG or a full colour rendition, and can you show a source for that? Hogweard (talk) 22:41, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't have sources for the original designs and I don't know if they differ from the versions here. I assume that both versions of St George are white silhouettes, at least going by the images posted here. If you can find alternate images online or contact the government of Georgia for some, by all means you can use those images to help with the vectorization. --109.77.108.115 (talk) 18:53, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
Done: colours may need reviewing though.
- I think it looks great though it needs some corrections. In both cases, the flags are to use the same colors as the vector bases. Do also look at the National Guard of Georgia flag with the coat of arms because I think you make the white cross bigger than in the one without the coat of arms, in that case, correct one by making it look like the other. Thanks!--109.77.108.115 (talk) 20:57, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
