Logarithmic companding for music
Speech coding#Sample companding viewed as a form of speech coding gives some detailed reasons why companding would work for speech but not music but does not include a citation. These seem a bit dubious to me. There's no discussion of this limitation in μ-law algorithm or A-law algorithm. dbx (noise reduction) is a simple companding solution that works effectively for music in the analog domain. ~Kvng (talk) 20:59, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
